So, uh, remind me why we don't already have a topic for this again?
For those of you who don't know, Andrew Lloyd Webber has created a sequel to The Phantom of the Opera musical called Love Never Dies. It's based off The Phantom of Manhattan. I don't really want to go into detail because that book is the worst thing ever, but you can take a look at the website and see for yourself. http://www.loveneverdies.com/

There was a thread for this, but Nichol did some house cleaning and deleted a lot of threads before I could stop her. Thank you for putting this up Snowmocassin.

That's what I thought, but I did a search for it and couldn't find it. I was thinking some new members would like to contribute to the conversation, but we'll see where it goes.

Regardless of my rantings of it on YouTube, I've been trying (and having difficulty) to keep an open mind. I'm not opposed to Love Never Dies, merely the idea that began in the first place. Phantom needs no sequel and I stand by that. Does that mean I'll hate the sequel when it comes out? Il n'faut pas. But chances are, based on what we've learned of it, I won't like it.
Anyway, anyone hear about that whole hot dog eating business?

Apparently, ALW has hinted toward Raoul and Erik having a hot dog eating contest for Christine's heart. I don't get it either and I certainly hope it's not true.

What I don't get is why do we have to see/like the sequel to be "true phans"? Am I not a phan enough in equal manner if I oppose the idea because I believe it oppresses the original story? Argh...

You don't. There are many aspects of Phandom that is only for you. Enjoy what you prefer. I don't like Susan Kay's Phantom, but many do. That doesn't make me less of a Phan. Do what makes you happy.

*sigh* If only other people could be so understanding. I hate what this sequel has done to our community. We had enough problems with the Gerry vs. Michael War and now this. It's a real shame if you ask me.
Anyway, for those interested, I have another video rant on the way exploring the pros and cons of the sequel. Here's the trailer:

The vid is not there. Please try again.
I'm not happy about sequels in general. Most of them are less than the first one and too many get to be stupid. So, I agree. They should not have a sequel.

Gah, I hate it when these silly things don't work. If you search "love never dies trailer", I think it's the first 3 down.
*sigh* Anyway, I agree with you 100% about the sequel. It never should have came to be in the first place. There will always be Phantom sequels in literature and fanfiction and such, but nothing should be produced in this magnitude.
In other news, has anyone else heard the preview audio clips on Amazon.com?
